Global Schools Debating Championship is a professionally accredited international debate championship based in Australia. Our debating championship was established to give students around the world an opportunity for personal growth and development through debate. We offer a fair, safe and inclusive environment where students can sharpen their communication, critical thinking, general knowledge and public speaking skills. Our online debating championship gives students of all ages the opportunity to participate regardless of where in the world they are.

About Us

Established in New South Wales, Australia, Global Schools Debating Championship was founded as an opportunity for students from across the world to strengthen their debating skills. Our international debate championship is conducted online and is open to students from the primary, junior and secondary school divisions.

We follow a strict code of conduct to help create a safe, fair and inclusive debate environment where students can flourish and learn. Debating can greatly benefit a student’s personal, social and intellectual development. Our mission is to make debate accessible to all so they can experience these benefits as well.

Respect

Participants must show respect at all times towards other debaters, judges, organisers and audience members.

Integrity

Participants must uphold integrity throughout the competition, including refraining from cheating. Handwritten notes must be shown to the adjudicator.

Fairness

All participants are entitled to a fair opportunity to debate. Participants should refrain from behaviour that may give them an unfair advantage.

Sportsmanship

Participants must show good sportsmanship to foster an inclusive and positive debating environment.

Professionalism

Debaters should be professional throughout the competition. This includes dressing appropriately, arriving on time and communicating effectively.

Open-minded

Participants should approach debates with an open mind, willing to engage with different perspectives. This includes being receptive to feedback and constructive criticism.
